Jodhpur Travel Tips

Essential tips to make your Jodhpur trip unforgettable.

Best Time

Best Time to Visit

October to March is the ideal time to visit Jodhpur. The weather is pleasant with temperatures between 10°C to 25°C, perfect for exploring Mehrangarh Fort and wandering through the blue lanes. Avoid the scorching summers (April-June) when temperatures can exceed 45°C.

Getting Around

Getting Around

Auto-rickshaws are the most convenient way to explore Jodhpur's old city. For longer distances, book Ola/Uber cabs. Renting a scooty (₹300-500/day) is great for casual exploration. For Osian or Mandore, hire a private taxi for the day (₹1500-2500).

What to Pack

What to Pack

Light cotton clothes for day, a light jacket for winter evenings. Comfortable walking shoes are a must for fort visits. Don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. If visiting temples, carry a scarf or dupatta to cover your head.

Local Etiquette

Local Etiquette

Remove shoes before entering temples. Ask before photographing people — many locals in the blue city are happy to pose but appreciate being asked first. Bargain politely at markets (start at 50% of the quoted price). Dress modestly at religious sites.
